Privacy Policy

Last updated: 26 July 2026 · Effective: 26 July 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Nevronus Systems ("Nevronus Systems", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the CaloriePal mobile application and related services (the "App"). By using the App, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Who we are

CaloriePal is a nutrition-tracking app that lets you log meals, estimate calories and macronutrients (including from food photos using AI), track your weight and progress, and view guidance such as your Body Mass Index (BMI) and suggested diet plans. The data controller is Nevronus Systems. You can reach us at info@nevronus.com.

2. Information we collect

We collect only what we need to provide the App's features. This includes:

CategoryExamplesWhy
Account & identity When you sign in with Google: your email address, display name, profile photo URL, and Google account identifier (user ID). To create and secure your account and sync your data across devices.
Health & profile inputs Sex, date of birth (used to derive age), height, current and target weight, activity level, goal (lose/gain/maintain), chosen diet plan, and calorie/macro targets. BMI is calculated from your height and weight. To calculate personalised targets and show BMI and plan suggestions.
Food & activity logs Meals and foods you log (names, portions, calories, macronutrients, categories, timestamps, notes), foods detected by the AI scan, your saved custom foods, and weight/progress entries. To track your daily intake and progress over time.
Photos Meal photos and optional progress photos. See Section 5 — photos are stored locally on your device and are not uploaded to our servers. To attach an image to a log and to run an AI estimate when you choose to scan.
Purchases Subscription and entitlement status (e.g. whether you have an active premium plan). Payments are processed by the app store; we do not receive your full payment card details. To unlock and manage premium features.
Device & usage App usage events, feature interactions, approximate app performance, crash diagnostics (device model, OS version, stack traces), and a push notification token. To keep the App reliable, fix crashes, understand feature use, and send notifications you enable.

We do not knowingly collect precise location, contacts, or sensitive identifiers beyond what is listed above.

3. How we use your information

Legal bases (EEA/UK). We process data to perform our contract with you (providing the App), based on your consent (e.g. optional notifications and AI scanning), for our legitimate interests (security, reliability, improvement), and to comply with legal obligations.

Advertising. CaloriePal does not show third-party ads and we do not sell your personal information.

4. Sharing and service providers

We do not sell your personal data. We share limited data with trusted service providers ("processors") who process it on our behalf to run the App:

ProviderPurposeData involved
Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Analytics, Crashlytics, Cloud Messaging, Remote Config) Sign-in, cloud data sync, analytics, crash reporting, notifications, configuration Account identifiers, your logs/profile/progress, usage & crash data, push token
Google (Gemini API) AI analysis of a food photo you choose to scan The image you submit for that scan (see Section 5)
RevenueCat Subscription management and receipt validation Purchase/entitlement data and an app user identifier
Google Play Billing / Apple App Store Processing payments and subscriptions Handled by the store under its own privacy policy

We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or the public. If we are involved in a merger or acquisition, data may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy.

International transfers. Our providers may process data on servers located outside your country, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

5. Photos and AI scanning

Meal photos and optional progress photos you capture are stored locally on your device (in a folder named "CaloriePal") and are not uploaded to Nevronus Systems' servers. They remain on your device and are removed when you delete the item or uninstall the App.

When you actively choose to scan a food photo, the image is transmitted to Google's Gemini API solely to estimate the foods and their nutrition, and the estimated results are returned to the App. That processing is subject to Google's terms and privacy practices. We do not use your photos to train our own models, and we do not retain the scanned image on our servers.

6. Data retention and deletion

We keep your account and logged data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your data at any time:

On-device data (including photos and the local database) is removed when you delete your account or uninstall the App. Cloud data stored in Firestore is deleted upon account deletion. Some records may be retained for a limited period where required for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes, after which they are deleted or anonymised.

7. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. Much of this is available directly in the App; for anything else, contact us at info@nevronus.com and we will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.

8. Security

We use technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), authenticated access, and server-side access rules that restrict each user's cloud data to their own account. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information and to promptly address any issues.

9. Health disclaimer

CaloriePal provides general wellness and informational estimates (including calories, macronutrients, BMI, and suggested diet plans). It is not medical advice and is not a substitute for professional guidance. Consult a qualified healthcare provider before making significant changes to your diet, exercise, or health routine.

10. Children's privacy

CaloriePal is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country, such as 16 in parts of the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide notice in the App or by other reasonable means. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
